Carmel College (Autonomous), Mala
Carmel, a first grade college for women under the University of Calicut, stands nestled in an idyllic locale in a small town called Mala near the southern tip of Thrissur district, the cultural capital of Kerala. This college, which began in the year 1981, is run by the Sisters of the Congregation of Mother of Carmel who, guided by their founders Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara and Rev. Fr. Leopold Boccaro, have taken up the apostolate of education.

In this academic year 2023-2024, Carmel, with her status of Autonomy, is paving new exceptional dimensions in the field of education. Each member of the college works together relentlessly to mould the students to build a future, which looks hopeful and accomplished.

Vision & Impact: Quality Transformation was organized by the IQAC, Jubilee Mission College of Nursing, Thrissur, on 27 July 2026 at the Bishop Alappatt Auditorium. The programme celebrated the institution’s QAS A+ Accreditation through an appreciation ceremony and featured an orientation session on National Education Policy (NEP) and Binary Accreditation. The event was presided over by H.E. Mar Tony Neelankavil, with Prof. (Dr.) Mohanan Kunnummal, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, KUHS, as the Chief Guest. The orientation session was led by Prof. (Dr.) Gabriel Simon Thattil.

Jubilee Mission College of Nursing celebrated National Reading Day to foster a culture of reading and lifelong learning. The highlight of the programme was an inspiring session, “Amor Librorum”, delivered by the Chief Guest, Ms. Meghna K., an accomplished short story writer and recipient of several literary awards. The session encouraged students to develop a passion for books, creativity, and critical thinking, reinforcing the message that reading is a gateway to knowledge, imagination, and personal growth.

Jubilee Mission College of Nursing (JMCON), Thrissur, conducted a Faculty Workshop on “Empowering Excellence in Higher Education: Strategies for Quality Enhancement and Academic Transformation” on 23 June 2026 and 30 June 2026. The workshop was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Renny Mundenkurian, Director, JMMC & RI, with the lighting of the Nilavilakku. Dr. Benny Joseph Neelankavil, CEO, JMMC & RI, and Rev. Fr. Joyson Cheruvathoor, Assistant Director, JMHC & AI, offered felicitations. Rev. Dr. Roy Joseph Vadakkan, Assistant Professor, Jyothi Engineering College, Thrissur, delivered the special address and shared valuable insights on quality enhancement and academic excellence in higher education. The programme provided an enriching learning experience for the faculty members.

The programme featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), keynote addresses, and discussions on future academic and research collaborations, strengthening the partnership between the two institutions.

Renny Mundenkurian, Director, JMHC & AI. The workshop encouraged participants to strengthen their research skills and foster a spirit of scientific inquiry in healthcare.

The 15th Academic Council Meeting of Jubilee Mission College of Nursing was held on 08 May 2026 from 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm at the Conference Room.
The meeting commenced with a silent prayer followed by the welcome address by Dr. Sr. Judy SIC, Principal, JMCON. The minutes of the previous meeting were presented by Sr. Sumy Paul, Secretary, Academic Council.
Dr. Sr. Judy SIC presented the Principal’s report highlighting inspection evaluations, examination results, college programmes, Platinum Jubilee activities, and plans for certificate courses and Silver Jubilee programmes. The QAS Report was presented by Dr. Sr. Tresa Anto, QAS Nodal Officer, and the NAAC Report by Sr. Godwin, IQAC Coordinator.
The meeting was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Dr. M. A. Andrews, Principal, JMMC&RI; Prof. Lakshmi G, Principal, SI-MET College of Nursing, Palluruthy; Dr. Jenson P O, Principal, Sahrudaya College of Advanced Studies; Fr. Renny Mundenkurian, Director, JMMC&RI; and Fr. Joyson Cheruvathoor, Assistant Director, JMMC&RI, who shared their valuable suggestions and remarks.
The meeting concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Sr. Tresa Anto, Vice Principal, JMCON.
