Anti-Ragging Committee

Anti -Ragging Committee is constituted in the college to curb the menace of Ragging and to take anti-ragging measures as per the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court of India and University Grants Commission.

Objectives

  • To provide for a safe and secured environment to the students studying in the institute.

  • To prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging in all its forms within the college or outside.

  • To build effective mechanism in the campus to curb the menace of ragging.

  • To take effective measures to address such matters that arise due to the act of ragging.

What constitute Ragging?

  • Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by any act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness to a fresher or any other student.

  • Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do or generating a sense of shame to fresher or any other student.

  • Any act by a senior student that prevents or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or fresher.

  • Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.

  • Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher by other students.

  • Any act of physical abuse, including sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene causing bodily harm or any other damage to health or person.

  • Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, posts and public insult to a fresher.

  • Any act that affects the mental health and self confidence of a fresher or any other student.

For Students

  • Students have to be punctual for assembly.
  • Every student must have put in a minimum of 80% of attendance separately for theory and practicals to be eligible for University Examination.
  • Attendence shall be taken before each lecture, practical class or clinicals.
  • Students are not permitted to remain in the class rooms except during the hours of instruction.
  • Students should not be absent from the class without leave unless such absence is satisfactorily explained or informed prior.
  • Mass walk outs or strikes are strictly prohibited
  • Ragging in any form is a criminal offence, and will be dealt with all seriousness. Any such activities will be reported to the police and the students indulging in ragging will be expelled from the college.
  • Students on the role of the college are forbidden to take any active part in political agitation against the authority of the management / government. Students of this college getting involved in activity that may interfere with the co-operative life and educational work of the college will be liable to be suspended or expelled from the college by the Principal.
  • Mobile phones are strictly prohibited in the college campus and student found to have violated the rule are under disciplinary action as per policy.
  • Students are forbidden to affix posters, display materials and other articles on the walls of the college buildings.

For Teachers

Nursing is a noble profession and teaching assumes the obligation to conduct oneself in accordance with the ideals of the profession. The teacher can inspire, inspect, ignite, instill love of learning. It should follow the ethical values like care, trust, respect and so on.

  • Uphold the honour and dignity of the teaching profession and should collaborate with the institutional mission, vision and values. The INC code of conduct for nurses also should be a focus for making upcoming buds.
  • Impart innovative and quality education to students in concern with students interest.
  • Abide the rules and regulation of the institution irrespective of caste, creed, gender, socio-economic status and religion.
  • Develop a sense of inquiry in the pursuit of knowledge.
  • Be impartial, interact with students in a friendly manner and instill scientific and democratic outlook.
  • Pursue advancement in professional knowledge and personal value system through participation in research, staff development programmes and so on.
  • Acquaint with recent advancements in teaching and learning for the better skill in patient care.
  • Maintain peaceful and cohesive environment for fellow colleagues and students.

Frequency of meeting : Twice in a year and as need arises

Anti-Ragging Squad

Composition. There will be two Anti Ragging Squads, one for the girl’s and another for boy’s hostel. The anti-ragging squad will comprise of the following:-

  • One faculty member

  • Respective Hostel Wardens

  • One Resident Faculty

  • Hostel Staff

  • Non teaching staff

  • Senior students

Duties
  • It shall work under the overall guidance of the Anti-Ragging Committee

  • The Squad shall have vigil and patrolling functions.

  • It shall be kept mobile, alert and active at all times and shall be empowered to inspect places of potential ragging and make surprise raids on hostels and other hot spots.

  • It will conduct regular and surprise checking at various places, hostels and class rooms from time to time, and will appraise the ARC.

  • It shall carry out on-the-spot investigation into any incident of ragging and make recommendations to the ARC.

  • It shall conduct anonymous random surveys among freshers to check whether the Campus is indeed free from ragging.

  • It shall ensure that anti-ragging posters are displayed in designated places.

  • It shall occasionally dine with the newcomers in the hostels to instill confidence among them.

  • It shall provide a report to the Anti-Ragging Committee every day for the first month and thereafter as directed by The Principal.

The punishment may also include any of the following

  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.

  • Withholding / withdrawing scholarship / fellowship and other benefits.

  • Debarring from appearing in any test / examination or other evaluation process.

  • Withholding results.

  • Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.

  • Suspension/ expulsion from the hostel.

  • Cancellation of admission.

  • Rustication from the institution for period ranging from one to two years.

  • Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period.

In addition, in case of every single incident of ragging, a First Information Report (FIR) will be filed with the local police authorities.
